As a scholar and ethnomusicologist I study the ways in which musical practices relate to and spread light on our historical and evolutionary past, our cultural beliefs and social worlds. My current research and book-in-progress concerns the dispersal and origins of love songs and their relation to the origins and evolution of human sexuality, multiple sexual unions, monogamy, sexual taboos, and romantic love.
